Privacy Policy
Last updated July 29, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Quinn Slater (“we,” “us,” or “our”), the operator of quinnslaterauthor.com (the “Site”), collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit the Site, sign up for our list, or place an order.
We keep this simple and plain-English on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email us at legal@quinnslaterauthor.com and we’ll walk you through it.
1. Who We Are
Quinn Slater is an independent romance author. This Site is our online home and bookstore, where readers can browse the catalog, join our reader list (“the Keyholders”), and buy signed books directly from us.
For any privacy question or request, contact us at legal@quinnslaterauthor.com or by mail at [CONFIRM: mailing address / PO box].
2. Information We Collect
We only collect what we need to run the store and stay in touch with readers who ask us to.
Information you give us directly:
- Reader list sign-ups (Keyholders): your name and email address.
- Orders: your name, email address, and billing/shipping address.
- Event or appearance requests: your name, email address, and your message.
- Anything else you send us: if you email us or fill out a form, we receive whatever you choose to share.
Payment information: When you check out, your payment is processed by our payment providers ([CONFIRM: Stripe and/or PayPal]). We do not see or store your full card number — the payment processor handles that directly and securely.
Information collected automatically: Like most websites, our host and platform automatically log basic technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and the pages you visit. This helps keep the Site secure and working properly. See our Cookie Policy for details on cookies.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Process and fulfill your orders, and send order/shipping confirmations
- Send reader-list emails (new releases, news, and offers) if you signed up — and only until you unsubscribe
- Respond to your questions, event requests, and support messages
- Keep the Site secure, prevent fraud, and meet our legal and tax obligations
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s advertising.
4. Who We Share It With
We share information only with the service providers that help us run the Site, and only as needed:
- Website hosting & platform: [CONFIRM: hosting provider] and WordPress/WooCommerce (store software)
- Payment processing: [CONFIRM: Stripe and/or PayPal]
- Email/reader-list platform: [CONFIRM: email platform — once connected via OttoKit]
- Shipping: carriers we use to deliver your order (e.g., USPS)
- Legal/compliance: if required by law, subpoena, or to protect our rights and our readers’ safety
Each of these providers has its own privacy practices; we choose reputable ones and share only the minimum necessary.
5. How Long We Keep It
- Order and transaction records: kept as long as needed for accounting, tax, and legal purposes (typically several years).
- Reader-list data: kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- Support/event messages: kept as long as needed to help you and for our records.
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that’s wrong
- Delete your information (“right to be forgotten”)
- Opt out of marketing emails at any time (use the unsubscribe link in any email)
- Port your data to another service
- Object to or restrict certain processing
For EU/UK readers (GDPR): Our legal bases for processing are performing our contract with you (orders), your consent (marketing emails), and our legitimate interests (running and securing the Site).
For California readers (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know, delete, and correct your information, and to opt out of “sale” or “sharing” — though we do not sell or share your personal information. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals.
To exercise any right, email legal@quinnslaterauthor.com. We’ll respond within the time required by law.
7. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep your shopping cart working, keep the Site secure, and — if enabled — understand how the Site is used. You can manage these at any time. See our Cookie Policy for the full breakdown.
8. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including using secure (HTTPS) connections and trusted payment processors. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we work to keep your data safe.
9. Children’s Privacy
This Site and its content are intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. International Visitors
The Site is operated from the United States. If you visit from outside the U.S., your information will be processed in the U.S., where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last Updated” date above. Significant changes will be noted on the Site.
